Celtics Point Guard Rajon Rondo Out For the Season With a Torn ACL

It was announced earlier today that Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo would miss today’s game with the Miami Heat because of a hyper-extended knee.

The news turned out to be much worse for the Celtics.

After an MRI and confirmation by ESPN’s Doris Burke, it was announced that Rajon Rondo had a torn ACL and would miss the remainder of the season.

This is a blow the Celtics will be hard-pressed to survive.  Already struggling this season, they just lost arguably, their most irreplaceable player.

Here are the possible Celtics that could step in for the rest of the season:

Avery Bradley:

8.1 pts 1.5 reb 1.0 ast

Jason Terry:

9.8 pts 1.9 reb 2.2 ast

Leandro Barbosa:

4.6 pts .8 reb 1.1 ast

The Celtics sit on the final playoff spot in the East as the 8th seed, with a 20-23 record, entering today.
