Ryane Clowe, scoreless in every previous game this year – all with the San Jose Sharks – scored two goals tonight to help the newly-shaped Rangers defeat the suddenly wounded Penguins 6-1 at the Garden.
Clowe, brought over in a trade Tuesday night, was instant offense for the Blueshirts, also adding an assist.
He was not the only new Ranger to make a difference tonight.Derick Brassard, the major player coming back in today’s shocking Marian Gaborik trade to the Columbus Blue Jackets, scored a goal with 3 assists and John Moore had his first goal of the season in the first Rangers win over the Penguins this year.
Yeah, there was no Crosby, no Malkin, and no Iginla, but a win is a win for the points-starved Rangers, now in 7th place in the Eastern Conference. They improve their record to 18-15-3.
The other end of the home and home will occur Friday in Pittsburgh. The Rangers will enter with a bit of momentum coming from a great start for their newly-changed team.
