For those that were hoping for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, or Bon Jovi…or even Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, we have some bad news for you: it looks like the NFL has picked an act for Super Bowl XLVIII at New York/New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, and it is not any of the above.
It is Bruno Mars.
After starring on Saturday Night Live, the “Just the Way You Are” and “Grenade” singer is seen as a big enough, and safe enough act for the biggest show of the year.
Beyonce performed during this year’s Super Bowl between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers.
[Insert generic unfunny joke about Bruno Mars needing a jacket because it is going to be cold at MetLife Stadium]
It’s all too bad. Southside Johnny would have gotten everyone dancing.
We miss you, Mike and the Mad Dog show.
