Henrik Lundqvist’s Back To Back Shutouts Push The Rangers Past The Washington Capitals To The Second Round Against The Bruins


Henrik Lundqvist had 35 saves for his second consecutive elimination game shutout and the Rangers scored 5 goals to beat the Washington Capitals in their series ending Game 7.

Arron Asham had the first goal, which led to four more from Taylor Pyatt, Michael Del Zotto, Ryan Callahan, and Mats Zuccarello.

But the story tonight, is the King, who over two games had one of the greatest performances in NHL post-season history. Continue reading

Rangers vs. Capitals: It’s Game 7


It will be a Game 7 between the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals tonight.

Henrik Lundqvist, coming off the 4th elimination game shutout in Rangers history and his 2nd (1st in 2008.  The others were Joe Miller [1928], and John Vanbiesbrouck [1986]), will try to carry the cold-shooting Blueshirts to the 2nd round.

Henrik Lundqvist Earns Fifth Nomination for Vezina Trophy


The NHL announced earlier today that Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist has earned his 5th Vezina Trophy nomination.

An irregular season for King Henrik, between the lockout, the Rangers offensive struggles, and constant roster and line shufflings, he still managed a 24-16-3 record, with a 2.05 goals against average and .926 save percentage.

His fellow nominees are Columbus Blue Jackets’ Sergei Bobrovsky and San Jose Sharks’ Antti Niemi. Continue reading
